Ancient greeks as a best practice
Motivated by two posts in my friend’s Themis’ blog on Greek education (post in Greek) and on fear of failure, I just wanted to refer to a book i recently read and which I found closely related to the issues that Themis is raising. The book is titled “Who killed Homer?” by John Heath and Victor Davis Hanson and stresses out the deviation of today’s classical studies from the true ancient Greek spirit. The book was published back in 2001 but the questions raised and the examples offered can be found everywhere day.
Time
I was discussing with a colleague yesterday about books and she told me about the one she had just finished. There was one thing i found extremely interesting and expresses my viewpoint in life. While in the western world we claim that time flies, in eastern cultures (i think she was referring to China) people say time is coming!
just take a minute and thing about it…
